Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 8-inch round cake pans by greasing them and lining the bottoms with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with granulated sugar until slightly thick and pale, about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Using parchment paper helps the cakes come out easily. Consider using high-quality cocoa powder for a richer flavor. Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
