Ingredients
  

For the Garlic Bread Bowls
  • 1 large loaf large loaf of Italian or French bread (about 1 pound) Choose a nice, crusty bread for the best results.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Spaghetti
  • 8 oz spaghetti Substitute gluten-free pasta if needed.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • for garnish leaves fresh basil Optional.

Method
 

Preparation of Garlic Bread Bowls
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and hollow out the inside.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture over the insides of both halves of the bread.
  5. Place the bread halves on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy.
Cooking the Spaghetti
  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil, add the spaghetti, and cook according to package directions (8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add diced onion, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet and toss gently to coat.
Assembling the Bowls
  1. Spoon the spaghetti mixture into the garlic bread bowls, packing it in generously.
  2. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top of the spaghetti.
  3. Return the filled bowls to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven, let them cool slightly, and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

These bowls are great for leftovers and can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze them separately for up to 2 months. Reheat in an oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
