Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir until well blended.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix until the batter takes on a luscious red hue.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined.
- In a small bowl, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
Assembly
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top, then swirl gently with a knife or skewer.
- Pour the remaining brownie batter over the cream cheese layer and smooth it out.
- Swirl again if desired.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Don't overmix the batter to keep brownies tender. Chill before cutting for cleaner cuts.
