Brownie Batter
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature Ensure egg is at room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring Adjust to your desired color.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa for better flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
Cream Cheese Swirl
  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
  • cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir until well blended.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix until the batter takes on a luscious red hue.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined.
  6. In a small bowl, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  2. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top, then swirl gently with a knife or skewer.
  3. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the cream cheese layer and smooth it out.
  4. Swirl again if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Don't overmix the batter to keep brownies tender. Chill before cutting for cleaner cuts.
