Ingredients

For the French Toast
  • 6 large cinnamon rolls (store-bought or homemade) If using store-bought, buy a tube that includes icing for extra sweetness.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
For the Glaze
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven according to the cinnamon roll package instructions and bake the rolls until golden brown. Let them cool slightly before slicing them in half horizontally.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined and fluffy.
Cooking
  1. Take each sliced cinnamon roll and dip it in the custard mixture. Allow it to soak for about 30 seconds on each side to absorb all the goodness.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a little butter to coat the surface, and then place the soaked cinnamon roll slices in the pan. Cook for about 2–3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  4. Plate your delicious Cinnamon Roll French Toast, drizzle with the cream cheese glaze, and enjoy immediately!

Notes

Soak the cinnamon rolls long enough to absorb the custard for best results. Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure even cooking and a beautiful crust.
