Method
Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the warm milk with the eggs until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing with a spatula until it comes together.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Gradually add the softened butter and knead until fully combined.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until it doubles in size.
Shaping and Frying
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a 1-inch thick rectangle and cut out the donuts.
- Place the shaped donuts on a floured baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30–45 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully fry the donuts for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and drain excess oil on paper towels.
Glazing
- Prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Dip the warm donuts in the glaze or drizzle it over the top and allow it to set.
Serving
- Serve the donuts fresh and enjoy!
