Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast This is usually one packet.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warm (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened and cubed
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil works well)
Glaze Ingredients (optional)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the warm milk with the eggs until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing with a spatula until it comes together.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Gradually add the softened butter and knead until fully combined.
  6. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until it doubles in size.
Shaping and Frying
  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a 1-inch thick rectangle and cut out the donuts.
  2. Place the shaped donuts on a floured baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30–45 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Carefully fry the donuts for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and drain excess oil on paper towels.
Glazing
  1. Prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Dip the warm donuts in the glaze or drizzle it over the top and allow it to set.
Serving
  1. Serve the donuts fresh and enjoy!
